No Bins on Sidewalks

It has come to our attention that some residents are leaving their garbage and recycling bins on the sidewalk. This creates problems that slow down the automated garbage collection, and in winter it slows down snow removal. It also makes it impossible for physically active residents who use the sidewalks to walk.

To place your bins, please adhere to the following rules:

  • Place your bin, wheels facing your house, no more than 6 feet (2 meters) from the street. In accordance with by-law 705, your bin can ONLY be taken out after 6 pm the evening before collection and no later than 7 am on collection day.
  • Ensure that no parked cars are blocking access to your bin from the street (ideally, by placing your bins in your driveway).
  • Ensure that the top of your bin is completely closed, and that no materials hang outside your bin.

Together, we can ensure that snow removal, recycling and garbage pickup are as efficient and quick as possible.
