This year Hampstead celebrates its 100th anniversary and the Centennial committee has been hard at work researching the Town's history and planning lots of great projects and events. Join us in celebrating by exploring Hampstead's interesting history and exciting future...
Looking Back 1914
How many times has Montreal tried to annex Hampstead? Was Hampstead a golf course before it was a town? Was one of Hampstead's founders a hundred times richer than all of Canada? Find out in the Hampstead History section or explore our Photo Gallery.
Moving Forward 2014
Take a stroll through Centennial Lane, or come out for the revival of a beloved Hampstead tradition and join us for the Parade, or submit your entry to be included in Hampstead's time capsule. Find out about these unique projects and fun events plus much more...
Parade starts at 12 pm starting at Queen Mary and Northcote: runs along Queen Mary Road and Fleet to Hampstead Park where there will be an amazing show starting immediately after the parade.

In keeping with the centennial theme of looking back and moving forward Centennial Lane is Hampstead's legacy to the past and the future. The walkway on Hampstead road joining Lyncroft and Finchley will be rededicated as Centennial Lane. Along the path there will be plaques commemorating interesting and important excerpts from Hampstead's last 100 years. True to our foundations as a "garden city" two arbours will be placed at either end. There will be a ceremony to dedicate the walkway on October 26 at 1:00 pm.
Now's your chance to make history! On October 26th a ceremony will be held to show off the contents that will be buried in our centennial time capsule. A contest is being held for suggestions of what YOU think should be encapsulated in time. Your name will be included with your submission, if chosen by the committee. Submission deadline is September 30, 2014.
Historical Walking Tour
Moving forward, the historical plaques will be added throughout the town eventually forming a "historical walking tour".
